Role Purpose

To assist animal care assistant staff in ensuring Danaher dogs have the appropriate care


Main Activities/Tasks

  • To assist staff/volunteers with walking and providing enrichment
  • To provide good customer service by dealing with members of the public regarding enquiries and aspects of animal care.


Experience/Skills/Knowledge required

  • Experience of handling dogs, and a confident and sensible approach to animals
  • A flexible approach to work and ability to take instruction
  • Adhering to the policies of Danaher Animal Home
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills
  • Ability to be self-motivated and have a positive attitude
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to show empathy and understanding when dealing with others
  • A strong interest in animal welfare, and an empathy and understanding of animals within a rescue environment


Support and training provided

Health and Safety training will be given by the Volunteer Coordinator as part of an induction programme, support and instruction will be provide by the animal care assistant team and experienced volunteers.


Location

Volunteering will take place at The Danaher Animal Home, Wethersfield, North Braintree, Essex, CM7 4EQ


Additional Information

Volunteers will need to:-

  • Attend a scheduled induction - This will take place one your application form has been received and processed
  • Purchase at least a Polo T Shirt and ensure its worn at all times while on site
