Cattery Volunteer

This volunteer role at Danaher Animal Home will provide vital support to the cattery staff. It is an excellent opportunity to gain practical and theoretical knowledge of animal behaviour and training. This is an essential role at the Home, which will make a difference to the lives of the hundreds of cats who pass through our doors each year and help them in their journey to reach their new home.

Role Purpose

To assist Animal Care Assistant staff in ensuring Danaher cats welfare needs are met via socialisation and other activities.

Main Activities/Tasks

To assist staff/volunteers with the care, husbandry and socialisation of cats.

Experience/Skills/Knowledge required

• Experience of handling cats, and a confident and sensible approach to animals
• A flexible approach to work and ability to take instruction
• Adhering to the policies of Danaher Animal Home
• Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills
• Ability to be self-motivated and have a positive attitude
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to show empathy and understanding when dealing with others
• A strong interest in animal welfare, and an empathy and understanding of animals within a rescue environment

Support and training provided

Health and Safety training will be given by the Volunteer Coordinator as part of an induction programme, support and instruction will be provide by the animal care assistant team and experienced volunteers.

Attend a scheduled induction - This will take place one your application form has been received and processed

Purchase at least a Polo T Shirt and ensure its worn at all times while on site
